Ruth Sebatindira is a Senior Counsel, a rank granted by the Chief Justice of Uganda for her contribution to the justice system and the legal profession. Ruth served as President Uganda Law Society (2013 – 2016) where she worked to defend and promote the rule of law and constitutionalism in Uganda. Ruth has twenty three years’ experience in commercial litigation, tax and corporate advisory, intellectual property and commercial projects contracts and negotiations.
Currently, much of her work is in tax and corporate advisory mainly in finance, oil agreements, energy transactions and Infrastructure. She advises on branch/subsidiary set up, transfer pricing, intra-group financing and permanent establishment identification. She also advises on reorganizations, joint ventures and due diligences relating to various acquisition deals.
Ruth Sebatindira is a Commissioner at the Judicial Service Commission which advises the President of Uganda on the appointment of Judges, exercises disciplinary control over Judicial officers and advises on the administration of Justice in Uganda. In this role, Ruth focuses on improving access to justice and restoring judicial integrity.
Ruth helped to set up the Women Lawyers Committee at the Uganda Law Society in 2011, and served as its first Chair. Ruth is a regular speaker at women’s and leadership conferences. She mentors young professionals in their careers and leadership journey. Ruth also speaks to children in schools about responsible leadership.
As Board Chair, Special Olympics Uganda, Ruth works to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities through Olympic-type sports.
Ruth has an LLM from The University of Manchester, UK. She is a member of Uganda Law Society, East Africa Law Society, International Bar Association, International Fiscal Association and Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN).

Steven K. Mugisha
Steven has previously ran a Tax and Audit Practice as a sole practitioner. His fifteen years’ experience covers; proactive tax risk analysis, tax strategy and management, tax advisory and planning, tax audits and computations as well as finance and accounting.
Steven has led teams that have developed transfer pricing documentation and has carried out comprehensive tax health checks for various clients. He has also helped business membership bodies to draft and prepare, submit and defend tax reform proposals to the tax policy department at the Ministry of Finance. He has led teams that have carried out business reorganization engagements and has helped with creating tax efficient structures for clients.
He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of the United Kingdom (FCCA), a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), a graduate of Bachelor of Statistics of Makerere University Kampala and a member of the Board Risk Committee of the Parliamentary Pension Scheme.
Steven was earlier employed in Banking, the Tobacco Industry and the Oil industry. He has also previously taught ACCA Paper P4 Advanced Financial Management.
